We The People Poster
"We the People" – the powerful first words in the preamble of our Constitution, written to establish the aspirations of Americans after fighting for freedom from tyranny. But remember, these words were followed by "in order to form a more perfect union" – acknowledging that our nation has always been a work in progress. The truth is, our country has never been perfect, or “great”. Through struggle, dissent, debate, and organizing, we've continued through history to work to make these words truly inclusive – so that "We The People" finally will mean for ALL of us. For 250 years, America has been on a non-linear journey of progress toward that more perfect union, and we're still fighting to include and protect everyone: working people, women, Black and brown communities, immigrants, disabled and LGBTQ+ folks. With reproductive freedom, immigrant rights, trans justice, and the fundamental foundations of our democracy under attack, we've got a simple message: we the people deserve better!
