US Route 66 was the main road to take a person from Chicago to Los Angeles and this Mens K Bell Route 66 Sock is giving it a shout out to its first long distance past. US Route 66 has many names for it as well, The Will Rogers Highway, The Mother Road or Main Street of America. When the United States decided to use number designations for Highways, some people wanted to use US 60 but there was a fight over that number so two men, Cyrus Avery (original entrepreneur) and John Page (a Highway Engineer) decided that 66 sounded like a good number and was fun to say. It was adopted and then the Bunion Derby, a foot race from Los Angeles to New York, helped to promote the road and get people out on Route 66 to watch the runners.
