The Zebra LP 2844 has been discontinued by the Manufacturer. There are fewer units available in the market and they are becoming very expensive. The direct replacement is the Zebra ZP 450 direct thermal printer. This newer and updated ZP 450 printer has a stronger motor, it is a faster printer at 5 inch per second versus 3.5 inch per second on the LP 2844. The ZP 450 is more compact with the same label capacity and the AC adapter is built in to the base of the printer, making it more practical to use. The updated printer Thermal head will give you darker labels. These awesome printers understand EPL and ZPL printer language. For most people it does not matter but for some specific name tag applications like the ones used on Churches is very useful because it also replaces the Zebra LP 2844-ZThe ZP 450 uses the same labels as the LP 2844 printer. It can even use the same driver as the LP 2844 in case the software used was specifically designed for the LP 28
