This year shows us that anything is possible, so why not Popovich For President? Gregg Popovich is said to be the most “woke” coach in the NBA. He was brought up in integrated neighborhoods which allowed him to be aware of what was going on in the community. Instead of turning a deaf ear to racism or taking white privilege as a gift, he stands up and speaks on injustice. Popovich voiced respect for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his national anthem protest. Be mindful that Pops has full understanding being that he went to U.S. Air Force Academy, where he was a basketball star and received a bachelor’s degree in Soviet studies. He also served five years of required active duty in the Air Force and once considered a career with the CIA. It’s not everyday people of color have someone of privilege respectfully speak up for us.
