2010 Adega Algueira Garnacha, Ribeira Sacra

Adega Algueira is run by the father-son team of Fernando and Fabio Algueira. The vineyards are located in the Armandi Subzone of the appellation. At the top of the banks, amongst chestnut and oak trees, lies the winery built in the Romanesque style to mimic the monasteries crafted by monks in this area back in the 12th Century. In the year 2010, they selected Garnacha and vinified it separately, in wooden fudres, making a barrel-ageing that surprised us and encouraged them to plant more on slate soil.
