Sébastien Brunet, Vouvray Sec “Arpent”

Sébastien Brunet is one of the only vignerons in Vouvray who seems able to walk the tightrope between traditional Vouvray buyers and the hipster/natty wine scene. His style is never funky in any way. He’s well respected for his meticulous organic farming. All of his Chenin Blancs are vinified with low sulfites until bottling. The wines are captivating, especially the “Arpent” bottling which has gorgeous purity from start to finish. Aromas and flavors of grilled lemon, stone fruit, freshly picked green apple, struck stone, and flint swirl around in perfect balance. This Chenin has plenty of linear drive, precise acidity, and riveting tension.
