Headquartered in the village of Dürnstein and in possession of 15 hectares of choice vineyards in the loess (wind-blown silt) and gneiss (granite-like) soils of the area, Knoll is a benchmark. These are intense, textured expressions of the Grüner Veltliner grape: The “Vinothekfüllung” bottling, harvested at smaragd-level richness, combines selected fruit from the “Kreutles,” “Loibenberg,” and “Kellerberg” vineyards, all prized sites on the striking, emerald-green terraces of the Danube River Valley. Full of lush green fruits, wild herbs, and hints of white pepper and radish, this is a reference-point Grüner for lovers of this classic variety.The 2017 “Vinothekfüllung is arguably the standout of the Smaragd Grüners offering a multi-faceted bouquet of floral notes.
