The original version of Alyosha Ryabinov’s composition, Daughter of Jerusalem, a sonata performed in three movements, was recorded in 1992 on cassette tape. We are pleased to present to you this new CD release of Daughter of Jerusalem, performed and recorded by Ryabinov in 2021. All movements of the sonata take on a fresh and exciting character, expressing the heart of God and His love for Israel. Sonata No. 2, “Daughter of Jerusalem” is based on the theme from the book of the prophet Ezekiel, Chapter 16. In this chapter, the God of Israel is illustrated as a husband and the daughter of Jerusalem symbolizes Israel. The Lord said to her, “And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, Live!” (Ezekiel 16:6.)
