Hydrosols
Aromatic Hydrosols are the waters left after steam-distilling plant material (flower, leaves, bark or resin) for essential oils. They have similar properties to essential oils but are much less concentrated. True steam-distilled hydrosols contain all the beneficial components that whole plant materials have to offer. They are full of fragrance, very soothing and therapeutic. Hydrosols are mildly astringent, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and rich in antioxidants. Suitable for all skin types, they increase circulation and improve skin tone. Hydrosols refresh, hydrate and balance the skin’s pH and absorb easily, making it ideal to spritz before and after moisturizing. I like to mist my face a few times, apply oil serum to my face and neck, then seal it in with a few more sprays. It also feels wonderful to use any time of the day, as a pick-me-up or to freshen the air.
