The process includes safely securing the cat, searching for its owner (& microchip) then taking it to a vet to be sterilized and once recovered then it is returned to where it was caught from if unable to be domesticated. Often, while  a stray or feral cat is being spayed/neutered, one ear is “tipped” for a clear identification that the cat has been in order to prevent from securing the same cat again.
