Rhyzobius lophanthae - Scale Control

FOR YOUR FILES: Rhyzobius Tech Sheet Description Application Rates Release Instructions Rhyzobius lophanthae (also known as Lindorus) are small oval lady beetles 2mm long that eat scale insects. The adults of this natural enemy have dark reddish-brown wing covers and reddish-brown head, legs and thorax. The larvae are gray on top with a light colored longitudinal stripe, pale underneath and covered with numerous short hairs. Larvae are 3.5mm long when mature. The oval black or dark gray pupae are distinctly segmented and the size of adults. Optimal conditions for this beneficial insect are 68 to 86 and rH over 60%, but they can feed outside of this range. Can be used along with Aphytis melinus as part of an IPM program. Rates are 2-10/10ft ² or 10-40 adults/tree. Effective in orchards, landscapes, Christmas tree farms, greenhouses and interiors.
