Spanish for "hoof doctor", Docasco is a topical hoof conditioner for horses developed by Dr. Scott Morrison. Docasco maintains the moisture of the hoof wall, heel, sole, and coronary band of the horse’s foot. Docasco contains the following proprietary blend of ingredients to support hoof health: Common minerals in seawater, such as salt, calcium carbonate, iodine, and magnesium, are believed to promote healing and tissue growth. While many hoof dressings contain a synthetic version, Docasco utilizes all natural venice turpentine to help toughen and harden the hoof and sole. Pine tar acts as a protective layer on the hoof capsule, making it more resistant to environmental stressors. Rapid changes in moisture content can lead to superficial wall cracks (weather cracks). Some hooves either do not produce a good periople (the outer waxy layer) or have it removed by abrasive footing or sanding.
