Mattress Recycling Fee
California’s Used Mattress Recovery and Recycling Act (as amended) requires mattress manufacturers to create a statewide recycling program for mattresses and box springs discarded in the state. CalRecycle has certified MRC to develop and administer the program known as Bye Bye Mattress. MRC funds its California activities through a $10.50 per unit recycling fee collected from consumers when they buy a mattress or box spring. Connecticut’s Public Act 13-42 (as amended) requires mattress manufacturers to create a statewide recycling program for mattresses and box springs discarded in the state. MRC developed and manages the program known as Bye Bye Mattress.
