Brassica oleracea Savoy cabbages are named for the Savoy region of France and prized for their distinctive frilly and crinkled leaves. They are also known for particularly strong frost tolerance (down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit!), especially sweet and mild flavor, and tender leaves, and Perfection Savoy is no exception. Its tolerance of both heat and frost make it an excellent choice for a fall cabbage crop. Its large, 6- to 8-pound round, green heads have tender, crunchy leaves, and are great for winter storage as well. Perfection Savoy cabbage can be seeded indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost and transplanted out after last frost for a spring crop, or direct seeded in midsummer for fall harvest. It prefers full sun, but can tolerate some shade, particularly in hot weather. Heads are ready to harvest in 90 days. 1.75 gram packet contains a minimum of 200 seeds.
