Zea mays HEIRLOOM. Productive, reliable, and hardy, Reid’s Yellow is a popular old time variety for good reason. Developed in the mid 1800s by James L. Reid in central Illinois, it won a prize at the 1893 World’s Fair, and went on to become the most commonly cultivated dent corn variety in the United States for the early part of the 20th century, and one of the gene stocks for most modern hybrid varieties. Nine foot tall plants produce nine inch ears. ¼ lb packet contains a minimum of 400 seeds.
