Zea mays Wapsie Valley dent corn produces beautiful coppery-red and dark yellow kernels in 7- to 8-inch ears, on sturdy, 9-foot-tall plants. It is prized for its excellent flavor and high protein content, great for milling into grits, cornmeal, and flour. This well-loved variety was introduced in 1971 by pioneering organic farmer Adolph Steinbronn of Northeast Iowa, who aimed to create an ideal corn - high-yielding, flavorful, and not dependent on chemical inputs. The variety’s regional namesake is the Wapsipinicon River. ¼ lb packet contains a minimum of 280 seeds.
