Phaseolus vulgaris HEIRLOOM. The name of these classic beans comes from the spanish frijoles pintos, meaning “painted beans,” referring to their characteristic mottled coloring. Pintos are a favorite in soups and chili, or mashed and refried. The bush type plants will grow short runners, but should not need trellising.  Direct seed into the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Drying beans will need full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, drying beans will need at least an inch of water per week. Harvest the pods from the plant after they turn brown. Annual.Dry beans will be ready to harvest in about 90 days. 14 gram packet contains a minimum of 30 seeds.
