
1618 RICHARD FOWNS. Rare English Reformer on Three-Fold Glory of Christ!
Here is an exceptionally rare late English Reformation, early Puritan work. The only copy I have ever seen was offered at over $2,000.00 Richard Fowns [1560-1625] was the son of a Reformation minister himself and of that important generation that bridged from the English Reformation to early experimental Puritanism. His influence and prominence is evident from his selection as Chaplain to Prince Henry of Wales. Selected because he was a Protestant, and of the Reformed school, he greatly influenced the Prince who was, according to his enemies, a priggish, obdurate Protestant. The present work is a rarity indeed in that it is both highly devotional, deeply theological, and manages to also engage in the then-present re-encroachments of Roman Catholicism into England.
