1838 ADONIRAM JUDSON INTEREST. The Origin and History of Missions with Baptist Provenance.

Very rare and important history of missions, with a special emphasis on the recent boom in American missions. Illustrated throughout with half plate and full sheet engravings.  This example with both volumes with the discrete printed ownership strip of and the signature of Horatio Bardwell. He was sent to India by the A.B.C.F. M. with Haystack Revival missionary, Samuel Mills. Just 3 years after Adoniram Judson's arrival, he worked with Judson, though never becoming Baptist himself. He was also close friends with Samuel Newell, whose marriage he helped arrange after the death of his wife Harriett. Her memoir became one of the most influential missionary works of the age.
