An absolutely beautiful, and original accordion binding book composed apparently by a missionary to the Shan States of Burma / Myanmar during the 1920's. This region, and especially the Karen, were the primary people served by Adoniram Judson.  Each right facing page has a stylized, high quality gouache illustration of a unique Shan State typical female apparel. These include: Shan, Taungthu, Taunyoe, Striped Karen, Black Karen, Red Karen, Padaung, Ekaw, Muso, Maingtha, Hkun, Palaung, Lishaw, Palaung - Namshan, Shan Tayoke, Kaghin, Shan Man, Intha Rowing. Very good with minor handling marks on the title and throughout; some light transfer from gouache to the opposite page, but without loss to the original image.
