1946 Los Angeles Coliseum Los Angeles California Midget Racing October 13, 1946 Measures 17 x 22 inches reproduction print the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum: January 18, 1948- The Coliseum hosted the AAA-Midget Auto Races in front of a crowd of 10,168 racing fans. The 100-lap event took place inside the stadium, where a quarter mile track was installed consisting of unpaved loose stone.Midget auto races originated in Venice, California in 1914. This action-filled sport consisted of steel framed miniature cars that were built with two-cylinder motorcycle engines which were capable of reaching speeds up to 50mph.Between the years of 1945 and 1948, the Coliseum hosted 31 of these races.
