Desert Power

Cinnamon, Petitgrain, Lemongrass, and Grapefruit “On Caladan, we ruled with sea and air power," the Duke said. "Here, we must scrabble for desert power. This is your inheritance, Paul.” This candle has been a labor of love for me due to my obsession with Frank Herbert's Dune. My husband introduced me to the book series, the 1984 movie, and the Sci-Fi channel's mini series. The story is so deep, complex, and strange, and for me, it was a fun challenge trying to figure out what the planet of Arrakis might smell like. While this is the weirdest candle I've dreamt up, I had fun creating it because it is a scent that only exists fictionally set 8,000 years in the future, but I hope I brought it to life. Cinnamon evokes the spice melange so aptly described in the masterpiece itself. Petitgrain gives a bitter note reminiscent of the lofty spaces of the Sietch Tabr.
