FE Thomas Browntone Streamer Bamboo Fly Rod 8'6" 3/3 #6
An FE Thomas Browntone Streamer bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 3-piece, 3-tip, and built for a #6 line. The original owner of the rod was Edgar B. McKay, a teacher and environmental educator from Maine. Both of the Streamer rods he owned were made in 1947, the first year he began teaching at UMaine. One original tip is 1-3/4” short, and one tip was an extra made by Jim Schaaf. "EF 109" is stamped on the butt cap. The rod weighs 5 ounces on my scale. Medium fast action. Excellent condition with good ferrule fits and all sections are nice and straight. Brown main wraps with 3/7/3 signature wraps in brown. Perfection stripper. Reverse twist snake guides. Oxidized step ferrules. Three windaways at the male ferrule. The grip is a half wells that's 5 3/4" long. The aluminum downlocking screwlock has the heavy "lightbulb" style threads and the wood spacer looks to me to be a light walnut.
