A Hoagy Carmichael two-handed bamboo fly rod, 14', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #11 line. "H. Carmichael", and "1984 - 14'" are inked on the shaft just above the keeper wrap. The rod weighs 23 ounces on my scale. Hoagy made this rod in 1984 from blanks acquired from Harold Sharpe a few years earlier, and then finished the rod out. He relayed to me that he fished this on the Grand Cascapedia and in Scotland and Ireland, so there is some very nice fishing mojo with this rod, which remains in excellent overall condition. Hoagy himself has rewrapped the uppermost guide on the mid, but other than that the rod bears only light cosmetic wear, including some soiling to the grip, and a little brassing to the inner part of the guides. Impregnated cane built in a three up node pattern. Spliced joints which come with wooden protectors.
