*** see the recent discount above - we have a motivated seller for this, so it's a nice opportunity to get a fishable Payne at a great price *** A Payne model 210 fly rod, 9'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #7 line. 5.9 oz. This is an unusual Payne rod. Fair condition. The rod is straight the ferrules are tight, but there are a number of varnish chips, some cork erosion, and some varnish loss on the Walnut slide band seat. The owner's name is inscribed on the butt. Looks to be an early 1950's rod. Now for the unusual. The rod is wrapped in yellow main with black edges fore and aft. A professional job I must add. All the guides all the way up to the tip tops are what I call "circle guides". The feet of the guide almost touch each other and the hoop is almost perfectly circular (we used these at Leonard for stripping guides on the "Catskill" models). Reportedly the owner sent this rod back to the Payne shop every year to have it tuned up. Is it original? Just tonight I was speaking with a
