Ms. Wu's Hualien Big Leaf

TRES (the Taiwan Tea Research and Extension Station) encouraged the uptake of mainland transplant, 'Da Ye' in tropical, remote Ruisui on the pristine shores of eastern Taiwan. A nation already dense with amazing tea indications, it proved difficult for TRES to matchmake for the emergent region. The combined difficulties of small acreage, irregular bug bite, and an increasingly unpredictable typhoon season make for a dauntingly low yield. Though 'Da Ye' is most famous for its "Honey Aroma" expression, it was originally intended for oolong process. Ms. Wu has been producing organically from her family garden in Ruisui since 1973.
