Old-school New York baseball fans, this one's for you! Noted stadium photographer Ira Rosen has compiled this spectacular look at New York's three golden-era baseball palaces. First up is the old home of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Ebbets Field - baseball's ultimate bandbox, with the short porch in left, the "screen monster" in right, and classic 1950s advertisements filling the outfield walls (The Brass Rail, Lucky Strikes, Stadlers, Bulova, Schaefer, Gem Razor Blades...). Next is the Polo Grounds, home of the New York Giants, photographed during the 1954 World Series, with its odd outfield dimensions, massive centerfield bleachers, towering light standards, and the classic "Always Buy Chesterfield" ad. Finally, there's pre-renovation Yankee Stadium from the mid-1960s, with the original low outfield wall, wraparound bleachers, ring of advertising, Bronx buildings beyond the outfield wall, and even the giant flagpole sitting in the middle of the warning track in center!
