Description Aconiti Radix lateralis (Ginger treated) 附子(薑製) P Premium   This Fu Zi is from Jiang You County in Si Chuan which is famous for Fu Zi production. Our supplier visits the sight in the summer when Fu Zi is first dug up. He immediately cleans it and dries it and then transports it to his treatment facility to be treated in order to avoid using Dan Ba as a preservative. Unlike traditionally processed Fu Zi, Dan Ba (magnesium salts) is not used for preservation or in the processing of this Fu Zi. Ginger treatment of Fu Zi was first recorded in the Song dynasty. The treatment consists of soaking Fu Zi in water and discarding the water several times after which the herb is cooked in a soup made from fresh ginger for several hours. After this, the herb is steamed for an hour to further reduce its toxicity and make it soft for slicing. It is then sliced into thin slices. The goal of this treatment is to reduce toxicity and to preserve and emphasize the herbs warming and dispersing nature (It is often said that Fu Zi without ginger is not hot).
