This fabric tape looks exactly like original engineer tape but is specifically designed to leave little to no sticky residue after it is removed from you gear.  Many reenactors and collectors have purchased original web gear with black tape on it only to remove the tape and find a large amount of a black tare like substance left over on the webbing.  In other cases reenactors have used black electrical tape or duct tape to secure their kit.  In addition to duct tape and electrical tape not being historically accurate they also leave behind a large amount of sticky residue which is very difficult to remove.
