Fauves is produced in Japan, under the same designer as Olde Homesteader and Olde H & Daughter, two of our most elevated small brands. The label takes its name from "Fauvism", a short-lived artistic style/movement from the early 20th century, lead by Henri Matisse and Andre Derain - Fauvism was characterized by its use of bold colors and exaggerated brushstrokes, adjacent to the impressionist style. Fauves' design takes inspiration from classic American workwear styles, looking specifically at mass-produced garments developed after industrialization. Each silhouette is meticulously enhanced, with exacting construction, custom textiles, and highly detailed tailoring, a stark contrast to the more simplified & utilitarian originals. The Ranch Pant II is inspired by naval denim and WWII fits, with its soft blue body, contrast white stitching, and rounded bucket pockets.
