People who currently have COVID-19, those who have a history of having the virus, and those who are perceived as having the virus may be protected against housing discrimination under long-standing interpretations of the Fair Housing Act and other civil rights laws.  While there is currently much that remains unknown about COVID-19 and its effects on a person’s functions, people suffering from COVID-19 may have a disability as defined by the federal Fair Housing Act and state or local laws.
