The weekly Torah reading takes the reader from the reality of the present to the stories of the past and to the system of biblical law and morality. Everyone reads the parsha of the week from his life and his world, and there is no similar reading to her friend: the gates of interpretation of the Torah have not been locked and are open to all.  The book presented to you was originally written as a weekly column in the "Haaretz" newspaper during the years 5677 - 5699. Three years of writing have been compiled into a file that expresses in its style and character the Jewish and Israeli experience. The combination of the traditional interpretation with the treasures of Israeli culture and with the real social reality gave rise to a composition intended for the Israeli reader who wishes to live his life with a connection to the past, while at the same time touching the pulse of life in the present and dreaming of a revised future reality. Rabbi Dr. Binyamin Lau serves as rabbi of the Ramba
