Joan Colomo – Contra Todo Pronóstico CD
Colomo, Joan – Contra Todo Pronóstico CD We insist: Joan Colomo is a crack. Not content with having injected a revitalizing dose of freshness into The Unfinished Sympathy, nor with captaining La Célula Durmiente, the most free-thinking and free-playing group in the state, in addition to continuing to rehearse with the classic and influential Zeidun, Colomo has pulled a solo album that represents one of the most interesting and refreshing surprises of the season. With his well-known cultural bicephaly, between his Navarran roots and his roots in the Montnegre hills, Colomo gives a revolutionary twist to the Castilian song and the Catalan song; with unpublished lyrics in him to date, we are discovered as a master of the protest song, with political nihilism as head and love for human relations as an alternative to mundane dirt, Colomo confronts a brutal aggressiveness of content with a moving formal candor. The musical eclecticism that has always characterized him is also present here, although far from the canons of rock to delve into acoustic instruments, orchestral arrangements, sometimes circus-cabareteros and always combined with good taste and musicality typical of a master of the melodies, harmonies and arrangements. Allied with his partner in The Unfinshed Sympathy, Iban Puigfel, playing the role of producer at his Nautilus studios in Arenys de Mar, and supported by old friends such as Narcís Prats (drummer for La Célula Durmiente), Xavi García (bassist for Zeidun and drummer of Els Surfin\' Sirles), as well as Inés Mtz. de Albornoz (musical couple in Célula and in real life), Dani Navarrera (Luna Roja, Panorámica) and Marçal Calvet (Orquestra de Sant Celoni, Mumusic Circus), Joan Colomo has found a new vehicle of expression, probably the most personal and intimate of the many he has piloted in his prolific musical career, undoubtedly positioning himself as one of the most authentic, brilliant and innovative singer-songwriters on our music scene.
