October Glaze Chemistry II
Join us for a four-week course with a more in-depth examination of Glaze Chemistry. In this class, you will learn about the different ingredients that go into a glaze as we examine how each oxide and material works in the chemistry of glazes. Formulate and create your own glazes from the available materials in the Chemistry Lab. The science behind glaze chemistry is presented in an accessible, easy-to-follow way with plenty of time each week for Q&A with your instructor. All skill levels are welcome to take this class, but you should have some experience working with clay, and knowledge of the basic glaze application process is recommended. This is an academic course that is a continuation of our Glaze Chemistry I class; it is recommended that you take that course prior to enrollment in Glaze Chemistry II. Overview We will focus on formulating and firing glazes to cone 10 reduction, although the principles of glaze chemistry apply across the firing spectrum and you'll be able t
