From a 2014 interview with Western Horseman, David said he shot this image at the Saunders Ranch in Texas. Thomas Saunders V wanted to stage a scene similar to the famous Charles M. Russell painting, Bronc to Breakfast. David says, "I didn't know Thomas was going to let the bronc go when he did. I was using a longer lens to take a picture of the cook while I was waiting on Thomas, because I was getting bored. All of a sudden my students started shooting and yelling. I grabbed my other camera with a wide-angle lens and pushed the button. That's the only photo I got."
