Hot Glue Sticks for Mounting Minerals

Hot glue is another method for mounting specimens to our display stands. With hot glue, you get a more secure, semi-permanent mounting. It also has the advantage that it is less visible when mounting specimens with a small footprint since it can be color matched (crystal clear or black) to our stands, and that less glue is needed to secure the specimen compared to other methods. The trade off is that removal requires applying rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol to the glued area, and it is not suitable for heat-sensitive specimens or very fragile specimens that may need to be removed. The glue sticks we sell have been specially selected for their lasting quality, extreme clarity (for clear), deep black color (for black), flexibility, and ease of removal. Of course, they are perfectly matched to the hot glue guns we carry here in the store.
