AFFF is NOT a corrosive powder, but an Aqueous Film Forming Foam - combining fluoro- and hydrocarbon-surfactant technologies to provide superior fire and vapor suppression for Class B, hydrocarbon fuel fires.  By coating the area it not only suppresses an active fire but significantly decreases the chance of it re-igniting.   Using a foam liquid is also ideal for fires in the open engine bay of a SxS.  Powders can be blown away from
