The Adventures of Bev and Her Ostomy

In The Adventures of Bev and Her Ostomy, readers are introduced to Bev, a young superhero with an ostomy bag. The story demonstrates how an ostomy bag does not stop Bev from all of her favorite adventures including running, swimming, singing or anything else she decides to try. The story is written in easy to understand language and vibrant illustration to not only depict Bev exceling at these activities but also to familiarize patients and their families with ostomies including their appearance and even how they sound. This book aims to show patients, families, and friends that kids with ostomy bags can be and do anything they want. The end of the book contains a ‘Facts’ section with important information and answers to commonly asked questions, to supplement conversations with doctors. An ‘Ostomy Tips and Tricks’ section is also included to teach about basic ostomy care and help with commonly encountered problems, generated from the advice of a pediatric nurse with decades of ostomy
