The ropey texture and rounded cinches of these hoop earrings mimic tofu skin, which is made from boiling soy milk and collecting and drying the film that forms on its surface. Put these earrings on with the carved/detailed sides facing inward, toward your face (not outward, away from your face). When they're on, they will sit at a 45-degree angle and you can see the carved/detailed sides (vs. the smooth back sides) more from the front. See this photo for an example.
