Ember
Scent Notes: Firewood, fresh jasmine, soft musk and amber, light dancing across the burning wood, scorched earth and charred cedar. This was Day 3 in our Halloween Advent Calendar. If you close your eyes, you can see the glow, feel the heat on your cheeks, hear the whisper of the past. The fire has started, burned, raged, and let out all of its ferocity. Now, as the night air circles around it, chill and soft, the embers dance and play tricks with light and sound. They crackle and the waves of light flow through them. They are hotter than the raging fire was, and steadier, reliable. You could stare at them forever, and in your staring you feel the very human connection to such a moment, to all of your ancestors before you who stared into the embers at the end of the night and watched the light dance and swirl. The embers call back to a time before, and emit such power, as if you might see a glimpse into your future if you stare just a little longer.
