Students will sort sentences, identifying the main idea and supporting details for some interesting topics. Then, they use the sort to write out a well-formed paragraph. How does this work? STEP 1: Students receive sentence strips for a topic. Students must identify the main idea sentence strip. Then, they sort the supporting detail sentence strips into a logical order. When they are satisfied, they glue the sentence strips in order on the sort space provided. STEP 2: Referring to the strips that they sorted and glued in step 1, students will write a well-formed paragraph in the space provided.
