Alabaster Mountain Lion by Gabriel Quam - Zuni Fetish

A large semi opaque/grayish white alabaster mountain lion with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Gabriel Quam - the older brother of Melissa and Abby Quam. Gabriel taught his two sisters how to carve. There is a wonderful two inch long tail carved in the round that brings up the rear as well as a large orange alabaster arrowhead strapped on top of the lion's back with sinew. For the Zuni, the lion represents the guardian of the north - he is the master hunter, revered for intelligence, prowess & strength of will.
