A gray and yellow ocher colored Zuni rock, travertine butterfly dancer with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Enrike Leekya holding two mother-of-pearl eagle feathers. The wings are carved from the same stone but Enrike has inlaid the dancer to a small base made from the same stone for added stability. The butterfly dance is a thanksgiving ceremonial dance for the harvest, chiefly for the corn crop. The Butterfly Dance is a petition for rain, good health, and long life for all living things. The dance also recognizes the butterfly for its beauty and its contribution to pollinating plant life.Artist: Enrike Leekya (signed)Size: Including Base and Wings: 3 in. long x 2-1/2 in. wide x 4-1/4 in. tall#60334 - Zuni Fetishes
