Dolomite Mountain Lion by Melvin Sandoval

A cream and red sienna colored Mexican dolomite mountain lion carved by Melvin Sandoval - delivered to Sunshine Studio in May of 2023. Melvin has added a simple offering bundle - crossing over the tail that is carved on top of the lion's back. Melvin used melon shell and pen heishi - the added to apple coral beads that surround a big rounded azurite/malachite bead. For the Zuni, the lion represents the guardian of the north - he is the master hunter, revered for intelligence, prowess and strength of will.
