Cladophora aegagropila differs from most aquatic plants, taking the form of a round algae mass between 2 and 10 cm wide. Though normally discouraged in aquariums, this organism is commonly found in shallow lakes where waves mold it into a sphere. In tanks, regular rotation is necessary to maintain its shape. Cladophora aegagropila can be divided into sections that will naturally become round or fixed to roots/stones for a carpet-look.
