Baihao Oolong, also known as Dong Feng Mei Ren, has a fruity, smooth flavor with little astringency. The leaves attract Jassid "leaf hoppers." When the bugs bite the newly sprout tips of the tea leaves, they begin to oxidize. Most oxidation occurs after the tea leaves are picked, so this early process produces a unique flavor for the oolong. Baihao is a well known oolong, originating in Hsinchu, Taiwan. This Baihao oolong is grown in Yunnan from tea trees brought over from Taiwan.
