GERANIUM ESSENTIAL OIL
Pelargonium x asperum is the plant native to Madagascar and Reunion Island and is now grown extensively in Zimbabwe, Egypt and some other African countries too. Leaves of this plant when steam distilled produce a strong smelling aroma that places this oil in the league of herbaceous scents. Some makers use flowers of this plant too for making oil, but the oil content of flowers is less than those of leaves. The oil gels well with sweet lemon oil, palmrosa oil, and various other oils derived from carrot seed, peppermint, rose absolute, fennel sweet, Ylang Ylang and a few others. This oil stands apart in its soothing abilities and finds high reputation among aromatherapy oils used for curing mental issues. The Geranium Essential Oil (Bourbon) is also useful for getting relief from menstrual discomforts as it regulates uterine lining and cures cramps. It, when blended with wound healing creams accelerates healing and cures abscesses.
