Swedish Dala Horse by Swedish Artist Greta Lann The Dala Horse is a traditional symbol of Sweden. The wooden horses originated as toys that fathers carved for their children. I loved making this watercolor with the flowers forming a wreath around the horse. I kept the "saddle" and other designs of the horse the usual shape but replaced the traditional Swedish brushstrokes with flowers and hearts. I usually outline my drawings with black ink, but here I left that out for a softer look. Unframed Prints
