Wildlife Victoria are focussed at present on getting people on the ground in East Gippsland to help with the rescue effort, and to ensure that affected Wildlife Shelters and Carers have the resources and help they need to meet their immediate needs and the needs of wildlife in their care. Donations are supporting wildlife carers in Victoria by providing enclosures and cages, medical materials, specialised animal feed and fuel for vehicles, all to get the help where and when it is needed. The loss of many millions of animals, and over 1.2 million hectares of habitat in Victoria alone, represents a huge blow to biodiversity and there is collective grief over these losses.
