Single Origin: Nigeria Our Grains of Paradise, also called Melegueta Pepper, has a complex flavor - woody, peppery, with a warm subtle heat. Is a West African spice. Greatly prized by European Chefs around the 18th and 19th centuries, and is now rarely seen outside of Africa. There is probably no recipe in which our Grains of Paradise can not substituted for black pepper. Like peppercorns, they can be crushed or ground.
